In Spring of 2024 we were tasked with a fun and challenging project. A small firehouse built at the turn of the 20th century in south Philadelphia was being converted into a private residence. Vitarelli Tile was hired to prepare for and install ceramic tile and natural marble.

Although I neglected to document our full process, the general contractor has recently shared some photos of the finished product. We started the project with installing a heated floor system in the main bathroom area, installed a water proof shower system, cut in niches in the shower, next to the toilet and above the bathroom, installed a mortar bed over the floor heating system and completed the preparation by waterproofing the entire bathroom.

The finished product consists of grey handmade ceramic measuring 2”x8”, 3”x6” Calcutta Gold, River Rock Mosaic and 6” Calcutta Gold Hex.
